As a child, I visited The House On The Rock twice. I loved it immensley, and ever since then I'd been longing to go back. This summer I realized I had a couple spare days between when I quit my job and when I had to go back to school, and I planned to return then. I was also able to convince my boyfriend to get off work for a few days, so he could come as well.
It was as great as I'd remembered, but surprisingly, a lot bigger. About an hour and a half into the self-guided tour, when we thought we were close to the end, we were baffled when a sign told us we were almost a fourth of the way through the 2.5 mile walk.
Needless to say, since I am a complete photo dork, I took a LOT of pictures. A lot of the pictures turned out great, but a lot of them didn't. The way it works is, the lighting in the place is very dim. Dim for photography, yes, but even dim for eyes of someone like me who spends 99 % of her time inside. Either way, in my opinion it's the best place in the united states and everyone should see it at some point in their life.
These pictures may be a "spoiler" for those who plan on going, but they may also provoke skeptics to check it out, so I'm posting them anyway. So check them out, and definitely check out the House on the Rock.
Since the place is huge, and totally amazing, I have to post 150 pictures. A lot, I know. But you don't have to look at them if you don't want to! Anyway, you know how it goes... 10 pictures per page, so 15 pages. Enjoy!
